Job Title: Solutions Architect
Location: Need to be on-site 4 days in Calgary, Alberta (Local candidates ONLY)
Level of Experience: Senior (10+ years)
Duration: 12 months + (Program is slated to run into early 2026)
Work Environment: In person at our downtown Calgary office four (4) days per week and working home optionally either Monday or Friday each week. This may be negotiable for the right resource.

Program/Project Overview/Background:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Solution Architect/Senior Developer to join our team for an exciting program focused on integrating, optimizing, modernizing, and sustainably governing our data management systems.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development of solution architecture, detail design, development & operational support of the infrastructure of our systems. The scope of this role encompasses all aspects of the DEV ops lifecycle, including design, development and testing of solutions.
Technical Experience Required:
- Qualifications as a senior DBX/Azure architect (CloudOps experience) who knows how to build, scale and optimize (cost/performance) an RBAC based, CICD (ADF & Databricks) deployable/scalable, Databricks environment in a hub/spoke model and that can also take advantage of the best-practice patterns in Azure and Databricks
- Implementing sustainment processes including KPIs/metrics, data governance controls, and other auditable processes
Technical skillset required:
- DBX/Azure Architecture
- Hub & Spoke CICD design (ADF & Databricks)
- GitLab pipelines
- Bicep
- Infrastructure as Code
- Azure, RBAC, ADF, Databricks, ADLS
- ADF & DBX orchestration optimization for pipeline ingestion and modelling
- ADF & DBX Security (Restricted vs Unrestricted RBAC & ACL design)
- ADF Linked Services integrated into CICD
- CloudOps experience
- Experience with the following Ingestion Patterns (SCD Type 1 & 2):
- SAP HANA (drop/load & upsert)
- Oracle (drop/load & upsert)
- MSSQL (drop/load & upsert) & Query Federation
- PostgreSQL (drop/load & upsert) & Query Federation
- API
- File (json, xml, csv, xlsx) from network and SFTP
- CDC (ADF & DBX)
- SAP Datasphere Query Federation is a bonus
The solution architect must be able to communicate with the technical team to implement a system that is:
- Secure - Cloud RBAC
- Cost Effective - use the right tool for the right job
- Sustainable - Monitoring and notification
- Must be fluent in Azure Cloud implementations of Cloud Data Platform.
- Technical Quality Assurance - implement and manage technical quality control processes and ensure work delivered is tested adequately with sign-off
- Sound knowledge of interface/API mapping with legacy/3rd party applications
- Analyze and assess existing data management systems, processes, and technologies to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for changes that provide direct business value.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in or related experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset
- Minimum of 12 years with technologies skillset identified.
- Oil & Gas experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of architecture design, development, deployment and testing principles
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
